Motivation:
• characterization of vein systems from natural samples in 3D by high resolution X-ray computed tomography (HRXCT)
• quantification of vein characteristics (e.g. porosity, aperture) from 3D data sets
• modelling of fluid flow in the 3D vein system with Lattice Boltzmann methods
• coupling of fluid flow (1D) with chemsitry of fluid rock interaction -> reactive transport
